The Manitoba emergency medical services history has been similar to a couple of other provinces. The service were once given by small private companies to becoming run by Regional Health Authority (Known has RHA), reducing the number of services to less than 20. The ministry of Health then decided to change the RHA number and to merge them all together to form one provincial services, known as Shared Health Manitoba. With that services operates less than other services, either being municipally-run services or linked to first nation communities.
