Alberta EMS Services
The Alberta Emergency Medical Services is managed by Alberta Health Services. During the 2000s, most of the EMS sevices were either private companies, municipaly-managed, non-lucrative organizations or Fire/EMS services. In 2009, and until 2013, Alberta Health Services has started to buy back ambulances permits to help solve coverage issues and create what they call a borderless coverage. Since then, AHS owns and manage most part of the EMS services in the province, always mixed with private entities, fire/EMS joint services and others.
